FAQ's
Do you favor any one building system?
We’ve had success with stick framing, SIP’s, and ICF’s.
Do you favor any one heating or cooling system?
It depends on where you live. The main thing is the output will probably be smaller than you’re used to.
We already have a stock set of plans we like. Can you modify them?
Yes, provided the plans publisher gives permission. The end result can be the same as if we had started with a clean sheet of paper.
We have a designer/architect. Can you work with him or her?
Yes. We usually work as the building systems consultant in situations like this.
We like our older house. Can it be remodeled to be energy efficient and healthful?
Yes. You will probably end up with a better performing house than most new houses being built today.
We have a newer house, built to code. We have moisture problems, poor indoor air quality, and some mold. Can you help us?
Yes. We can design the modifications and see to it that they’re implemented.
Does your typical house meet Energy Star standards?
Yes--quite easily--but the typical Energy Star house does not meet our energy standards. Compared to our house, an Energy Star house is not as effectively insulated. This causes the heating system to be unnecessarily large and expensive.
